An Introduction

By theholdingpattern

First off, posts might be sporadic, or there might be several in one day. It is all dependent on how busy or bored I am.

I might put out a gripe ("you wanna know what really grinds my gears…"), simply describe my day, provide some humor, or go on some long winded refute of another person's opinion on a subject. It all depends what I feel like. It's a free country, right?

For those of you who don't know me, I'm a college student in my early 20s, and should be graduating in December of 2006. I am from NY, but go to school in Florida. No, I don't go to Embry-Riddle.

I am also a pilot qualified to fly single and multiengine airplanes (not seaplanes) and have my instrument rating, which to put it simply, allows you to fly solely by reference to flight instruments in times of low visibility. Recently I also earned my taildragger endorsement, allowing me to fly aircraft with the older-style (conventional) landing gear whereby the tail is lower than the nose when on the ground (hence…taildragger) and am working on my high-performance endorsement, which will allow me to fly aircraft with engines rated at over 200 horsepower.

I am also an Emergency Medical Technician and volunteer firefighter, and since I am a military history enthusiast, a WWII reenactor.

OK Renaissance Man, you say, what do you want to do with your life?

First off, I am trying to earn a pilot slot with the Air National Guard, which will require training lasting a total of approximately 1.5-2 years. So, if anyone wants to call me a "Chickenhawk," you can forget about that. Keeping in mind that the ANG will likely not be a full-time job after training (at least for a while…), I am looking at anything from emergency services to aviation areas for a full-time job.

And that's pretty much all I want to say about myself. You know more than you have to right now anyway.
